I think i already know the answer to this one but thought I'd ask an expert here. :)

We have two iPhone chargers in the house and I recently started using one of them. Upon plugging it in I've noticed there is an ever so slight buzzing noise when charging.

It is now unplugged and no longer in use!

The lighter one of the two is the one I know is official whilst the darker one on the right is my suspected fake.

They look identical on design but the darker one had different information printed on it in a different style.

Official:
Model no: A1399
Lighter plastic
Slightly heavier.

Suspected fake:
Model no: A1299
Darker plastic
Slightly lighter
Buzzing noise.

Am I right in thinking I have a fake accessory in my midst?

I found it unused in a drawer at home and had no idea where it has come from.

Thanks! :)

There have been plenty of problems with fakes (it's why Apple had the £8 charger exchange).

Looking at your pic, I would also say fake, the printing on the r/h one looks wrong (it's not sharp or as distinct as expected on an Apple product), the quality of the metal prongs looks poor and the seam at the bottom is not uniform.

Not only a fake, a poor fake IMO.

I didn't even look at the prongs in any detail.

The fact there looks to be rust/wear on the plugs and the way the plastic at the lower part isn't flush are a dead giveaway (alongside the other things I've noticed).

Looks like it's one charger destined for the recycling centre.

Best place for it ;).
