Why are my tmobile speeds so low??? I mean this is a new iphone 11 pro w/4x4 mimo LTE on band 12 and yet the data rates are Not fast enough. So gigabit on tmobile needs band 71??

Up to. Not everywhere all the time.

What are those speeds not fast enough for?

It’s plenty fast but new gigabit LTE is marketing BS. My older S9+ has advanced LTE w/4x4 mimo but then again I don’t think I’ve gotten these speeds like on my new 11 pro. I’m actually quite surprised 2 year old s9+ with all the advanced mumbo jumbo specs yet cannot get the same data rates as this new 11 pro. I was expecting faster than 500mb/s actually.

How do you even get the Speedtest.net to run in Safari on iOS?

Also, how do you know that isn’t the maximum speed you can get given the environmental conditions, interference, contention, etc etc.

I think you are being a bit over dramatic. Let’s be fair, 245Mbps is hardly slow and is really a first world problem.

You’ll be able to download any of your porn at that speed, so dont worry.

There are so many variables well beyond the phone itself.
Gigabit is theoretical under ideal conditions. Outside of a lab you'll never see it in the real world.
Your expectations are unrealistic.

Come on guys - it’s not unrealistic to expect UP TO gigabit speeds - my concern is that it’s less than 25% of advertised speeds. Has apple ever released real life speed test on ANY network? Tmobile isn’t the fastest but I can consistently get around 240mb/s downstream. I am just expecting at least 50% since these are on par with some older samsung s devices. Perhaps band 71 is needed...

It has nothing to do with the phone. I'm getting 17mb/s down here at work. I don't often see it getting much faster.
It's the network, the area, obstacles between towers and you, how many people are saturating the network, etc. You won't see consistant gigabit with any network.
I've been on band 71 and while the coverage is excellent i've still never seen the speeds you have. Nor would any person ever need that on a phone. I'd take a solid always reliable signal over gigabit speeds any day.

Try it at 3 in the morning. I live 1/2 mile away from the tower. During the day, when people are using the network, I barely get 30 Mbps DL with 5 bars. At night, when everyone is off network, it jumps to 150 Mbps. It's all about congestion. You will never get max DL speeds during the day, but at least closer to the advertised speeds late at night. You also need to be close to the tower.

“Up to” is not there to be expected. It is purely for marketing bs, just like “up to 10 hours of battery life” which, to be fair, if you cannot get on the first week of your new device, you will pretty much never reach that level.

Also, I have like 1/4 of your T-Mobile maximum speed and sometimes it goes way worse, but most of the time the speed is not the real problem, but rather reception, congestion and such. I would worry a lot more of getting a 4G signal than having my latest episode of Games of Thrones downloaded in less than a minute.

I’d say buying into marketing bs is mostly your own fault. Stop doing that. It’s a waste by any measure.
