Family option confusion

Hi,

I’m a family organiser, added my family members and enabled sharing so we can track each other etc.

The issue is that all family members can erase my devices or mark them as lost, which is insane.

Is there really no option to disable it?

Probably helpful if you lose a device and don't have access to your others.

You can share your location with People who are not members of your Apple Account family. On the People tab in Find My app, press the “+” in top left and pick a contact.

It's not about trust, let me give you an example.
My uncle not long ago was at ICU with delirium, and he was pressing whatever was on the display, and actually locked my Mac!

I think most people using this feature don't know how bad it can get, I understand the "lost" option, but not erasing a whole file system!

That does sound like a big concern. It would make sense to have a setting that limits those permissions maybe future updates will add better control for organizers.

You can share your location with People who are not members of your Apple Account family. On the People tab in Find My app, press the “+” in top left and pick a contact.

Then just do this instead of family sharing.
