As a line on a family plan 2100. when i go to get the phone on friday will they just add a 30$ fee to the bill for the next 2 years like the original iphone? or do i literally have to change the whole plan?
As far as I understand the AT&T family plans for the iPhone 3G aren't like posted above.
For 2 lines and 700 min will cost you $130 and every additional line $40 + the SMS plan of your choice.

OK, you have a couple of choices here, Option 1 will almost always be cheaper depending on the number of plan minutes.Bit off topic, but generally the same...
So my Mom has this plan "Nation 450 Rollover & 5000 Night/Weekend & Unlimited Mobile-To-Mobile Minutes
MONTHLY COST: $39.99" + $20.00 unlimited texts.
To add a 3G iPhone on this plan would it have to be converted to a family talk plan? Can people get more than one plan? Like could she sign up for a new line/contract and get the 199/299 price?
OK, you have a couple of choices here...
How may minutes would you need as the FamilyTalk plans? For example the FT 700 would be $69 for the (2) voice lines 60 for the first, and 9 for your line. Total = $69+$30 iPHone data plan +$30 for Unlimited texting for both lines.. 129+tax+fees.. $36 activation fee (one time)
2. Your mother could add an iPhone line of service. Lowest one is $69.99 which include the voice plan and the data plan. This is the same as the "National 450 Rollover & 5000 N/W ... as in your post with the addition of the new iPhone 3G data plan ($30). If you want unlimited texts, add $20 just like in your post. Total additional cost = $89.99+tax + $36 activation fee (one time)
In the same boat, thank you for that explanation. I've been searching for a clear answer on that!
... So, I have to change my # to be in my family's area code, and I'm worried that would complicate the purchasing process. To make things go smoother, should I go ahead and switch my line to the family's line prior to iDay? I would hate for that to somehow affect my upgrade status or something.![]()
