Hi all,

I have a friend who would like to buy her spouse an Apple Watch SE for Christmas but is not sure if he would be able to use the Workout app? He runs and swims and was using a Garmin. Will he still be able to log those workouts? He does have an iPhone issued to him through his dept but the ability to add an Apple Watch is blocked so she would have to set it up under her iPhone using Family Sharing.

Does anyone know if he would be able record and track his run and swimming workouts under Family Sharing?

Thanks!

If the watch is paired with her Apple ID then all the data will be stored on her phone. I don’t see this being a viable solution for everyday use.

Apple Watch is not a standalone device just yet. It has to have an iPhone partner most of the times. So someone paired the watch with another phone and using separately is too cumbersome and restrictive imho.

But yes the workout stats will still be stored.
