We have used 1 iCloud account forever to sync everything. Actually works ok. Now we were excited about family sharing, but it appears that it won't sync contacts between devices. IS this right? We would have to step backwards to manage 2+ sets of contacts? I guess we'll be sticking with 1 iCloud account and no family sharing until this is figured out.

My wife would hate her contacts filling up with work and client numbers. Pretty sure my employer would see that as a problem too. Can't see it happening. Sharing photos and apps, yes. Contacts - dangerous.

Just as you have a shared family calendar as a separate calendar, you could have shared family contacts as a separate shared contacts group. However, group contacts support seems to be like an unwanted stepchild in iOS; it exists, but Apple seems to prefer avoiding it.
