I have i5/16gb version of the MBA. It's my first MacBook. And I find fan noise a little strange. In my windows laptop, even when fans kick in, I can only hear the air flow, not a noise that comes directly from the fan. It is like there is some kind of buzzer when the fans kick in. I can describe it as an electric sound. OR shaving machine sound(with less volume). I'm not easily bothered by fan noise but this one really bothers me.

Any MBA owners who are experiencing the same issue? Do you think I got a faulty unit? I tried SMC reset but didn't work. I will try to upload a recording.

I defined that on this thread and ordered a replace. It arrived two days ago and I'm posting there the result.
TLDR: It seems normal, if it's constant.
Yeah it is the same noise as yours. I'll follow your thread. Do you think it is the case for MacBook Pro as well? I'm not bothered by the loudness but the pitch of the noise bothers me.

No idea. I only have a MBP2010 to compare and the noise of that machine is on another league. Just at 2000rpm it sounds louder than the air at 6000rpm...
