Fan Control does nothing

My MBA fan is running ape, so I installed Fan Control to tame it somewhat. But Fan Control does nothing. The graph that the fan is supposed to follow shows incorrect values. At the same time the fan drives me nuts by running at 6200 rpm when the processor is at 50 degrees celsius.

Has anyone else had Fan Control not to work on the MBA, and is there a solution?
