Hey, my macbook's fan is slowly dying, the noise is steadily increasing and becoming more disruptive.

It's a 2009, so well out of warranty, so i'm unsure of the costs - OEM fans i've seen online seem to go around £40 but i've read reports that apple themselves only charge £15 for the parts and repairs, but i'm not sure if that only applies to a machine under apple care.

I also really need to know the turnaround time - at the moment my macbook is the only computer i have access to. So i need it ASAP.

If you take it in to get it checked at the store, they'll tell you the turnaround, cost and stuff for free - no obligation.

Anything posted here will be merely opinion.

Have you opened the back up to take a look for a lot of build up of dirt, opened my wife's 2009 MBP recently and there was a lot of dust in there that wouldn't be helping things.

Apple wouldn't charge for items covered under AppleCare. Definitely go to Apple and ask how much. Then you can decide what you want to do.
