Hey all,
I've gotten me a new iMac 27" EMC 2546 yesterday but its making this terrible noise. The fan, however cool the temperatures, keeps on turning around 2600rpm ish. The noise is intolerable..
The temperatures as shown by iStat Pro are as follows:
HD-Machintosh: 29°C
Ambient: 3°C (?)
GPU Diode: 33°C
Mem Bank A1: 26°C
Mem Bank A2: 22°C
Mem Bank A3: 24°C
Mem Bank A4: 25°C
Mem Controller: 23°C
The fan only starts running when the iMac is on for about a minute. When I shut it down and power it back on, then again the fan starts after about a minute. When I put it to sleep and wake it up directly, then also does it start after about a minute.
The fan does not stop and keeps turning at 2600rpm ish.
I've tried resetting the SMC and PRAM but no result. There aren't any heavy processes going on. Everything seems fine but the fan seems to disagree for some reason. Appart from the 3°C, that seems a little odd.
Anything I could still try other then to RMA it? I'd hate not having it for a few weeks..
