Over the past few days, my powerbook G4 has been making loud grinding noises from within. During the noise, processes and functions cease on my desktop. Earlier, the loudest noise came causing a rush to power off. Any help would be great! Joe

my guess is one of vent fans is going out, and your pb is overheating then the processor is ceasing which causes your computer to stop. your'll probably have to send it in. isn't easily to open a PB. however, if you want http://www.pbfixit.com
