Last Night after installing a new hard drive into my mac pro. I reset the system to format the drive. However when i turned it on, Straight from bootup the fan was running extremely fast and sounded like a jet engine. This did not stop through the system fully loading so figured I would turn off the machine for the night and see if the problem would be fixed in the morning. But the same thing just happened again. Does anyone have any idea what this may be, or how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated

I would reseat everything, DIMMs, RAM Trays, Drives, wiggle the sensor connections coming off the CPU heat sinks where they attach to the motherboard. And if that didn't help I would only then try resetting pram. And if that didn't help I would try scmFanControl as a last ditch effort just before throwing up my arms and running around the room screaming. :D

This happened to me yesterday when I took out the Apple raid card.
When I started it up the PCI fan was running full bore.
I fixed it by unplugging it for 15 minuets. Give that a try.
