Ive noticed something that is not mentioned often. The 2015 MBP 13" runs cold and shuts down its fan completely to 0 RPM instead of idling at 800 to 1200 RPM like all previous models. This is a nice feature as it make it silent. Ive also noticed the 2015 15" does not do that. I'm guessing the quad core with its higher TDP of 47w runs too hot. The 2015 13 model has a TDP of 28w. The 2015 13 has one fan, the 15 has two.

I'm wondering if any of the new 2016 models shut down its fans. The entry level 2016 13 without touch bar has a very low 15w TDP so it probably does. If anyone has the new one can they let us know please. You can check fan speed with SMCfancontrol.

Anyone with a touchbar version care to chime in on how often the fan comes on and if it shut down completely to 000 RPM?
