I turned on my rMBP today and I am hearing a steady humming sound. I sped the fans up and the sound increased in pitch so I'm assuming that it's something wrong with the fans. Is there anyone else who has experienced an issue like this? I called Apple and they want me to take it to an Apple Retail store, which I can't do at the moment because the closest one to my location is about an hour away. I'm in the midst of dealing with final exams so I can't really spare the time to make the trip.

I don't have the right screwdriver to open up the casing and examine the fans myself, so is there anything at all I can do on my end?

did you find problem / soulution?

I never found out what was causing the noise but it stopped a few days after I made this thread. I assume something was lodged in there and the fans eventually got it dislodged. I'm still going to take it to an Apple Store next time I'm close to one to make sure no damage was done.
