In contrast to heating issues experienced by many os x Lion users where background processes resulted in temperature/fan speed increases, my problem is that my fans will NOT increase in response to a temperature rise.
I am currently running an early 2009 macbook pro (5,2), 2.93GHz C2D. Previously (snow leopard), CPU temperatures reaching 70oC or above would illicit an increase in fan speeds however after installing (clean) lion, CPU temperatures will increase as high as 99oC with fan rpm's remain at 2000.
I have tried resetting the SMC, which didn't help and now am successfully using smcFanControl to lift fan rpm's appropriately.
Has anyone experienced similar issues? Could anyone offer further advice?
Much appreciated,
John
