Hey guys. I have Retina Macbook Pro and I like to play a game once in a while so I have Windows 7 using Boot Camp. I play Borderlands 2 on 1920x1200 and high settings, AC3 on high settings but Far Cry 3 seems to run quite slow. If anyone here have Retina Macbook Pro and Far Cry 3. What settings and how much fps do you have?

The requirements seem quite high. Have you dialed down some of the settings like AA and resolution?

I have. I am playing on DX9 so no AA, Just 1680x1050 settings.

The thing is that Borderlands 2 I can run on 1920x1200 4xAA, etc.

If you haven't already, update to the latest Nvidia Beta drivers for the GPU. Also reset the SMC and PRAM along with setting the fans to max to help prevent/reduce throttling in-game.

Note that the game might not yet be fully optimised yet for the rPro hardware.

Edit: I remember reading somewhere, maybe Anandtech, that if you're exceeding the VRAM of your GPU through using max textures that the games FPS will be heavily reduced. Try lowering the textures and shadows :)

I'm running the settings on this YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0sSOHiK_uU) and it runs great. I'll download the new driver when I get home and let you guys know ASAP.

New drivers (beta), everything maxed out except for post fx (low) on dx9 @1920x1200 with 35-40fps OC'ed from 900 to 1035MHz and stock about 3-5 fps less. I'm not sure whether OC is worth it.

Far Cry 3 is much more demanding then Borderlands 2. There are people with purpose made gaming rigs that are struggling to play this game on the highest settings. On the new iMac with 680mx i have to have settings on high instead of ultra and postfx on low to get 60fps at 1440p
