Hey guys, I have been waiting awhile for far cry 3 and I now have it, but can not play it until my iMac comes around December 20th, I was stoked to hear that it will have a gtx 680mx, but it says that for high performance far cry 3 required a desktop 680, so I was wondering how well do you think it will play on the 27" iMac with 16gb and a 680mx, at 1080p and 1440p ?
And If anyone already has it, could you please tell me what your running it with and how well ?

Thanks in advance :)

It should run, but not in ultra-high settings. You can roughly compare the 680MX to the desktop 670. Where did you get the "it needs a 680" part?

I installed and activated it last night via a VPN program to fake my location to play it early.

I am playing on a mid-2011 27" iMac w/ 3.4 ghz quad-core, 8 gb RAM and the highest graphics card offered last year (Radeon 6970m). I do custom settings with everything turned up rather high, but turned down post-processing and shadows (due to a recommendation I saw elsewhere). 1440p and it looks gorgeous. Also, there are issues with DirectX11 for basically everybody from what I've seen so choose DirectX9 until they iron it out.

Looks fantastic with these settings and zero issues. I only fiddled with it last night and don't know what framerate I am getting, but it is very good. I can only imagine your 680 being that much better. I don't think you'll have any issues as long as you switch to DirectX9.

Holy cow that game looks amazing. Need to put that on my to-try list once I get the iMac up and running with bootcamp.
