I have Coconut Battery on my Mac, I've been using it for a long time. I noticed that the battery is already at 88.8% of design capacity. Is this normal for these computers? It took a lot longer for my 2010 MacBook Pro 13" to drop below 90% health.

I bought my MacBook at the July 2019 refresh. It's the 13" Pro with the 1.4 GHz Core i5. Computer's fantastic otherwise. The battery was manufactured in May 2019 according to Coconut Battery.

Looking at the history tab, at 11 months old the battery was at 97%, then by 14 months it dropped to 89%. Cycles went from 51 to 56.

My iPhone X, also bought at launch in 2017, is at 572 cycles and 91% health.

You might try turning off Battery Health Management. For my 2018, which received a new battery in December as part of the keyboard program, Coconut showed a big drop (99% -> 94% after this feature was introduced. It appears that Apple saves the battery by limiting the max capacity by around 5% which Coconut then shows as a difference from original to current capacity. When I turned "Battery Health Management" off it went back up to 99% the next charge. Not sure I will leave it off or on but definitely helps explain why my battery is still fine...just being limited to improve longevity (or so I assume).

Let’s all remember CoconutBattery is not an official app, or what Apple would use to determine battery life, so even though it’s a great app, take the numbers with a grain of salt

I did the same but saw no difference after disabling the feature. Battery is at 96%, 11 cycles, 2020 13" 10th gen

Of course, it was just an observation. I also noticed that when I compared with other users of the same model on Coconut's online tracking website, my specific battery is down too. I'll keep an eye on it.

Wow, I lost another 1.3% in one cycle. I'm at 87.5% now. Perhaps it is an error with Coconut.
