I am currently a college student and was looking to buy a fast, portable/compact printer. I'm a physiology/biological science major so I plan on printing out a lot of PDF's and such for notes and I need a printer that will work for that purpose.
I currently have a Canon MP620 (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=116&modelid=17406 but it is way too bulky and takes up a lot of space on my little desk. Also, I find that it takes a long time to do the print jobs when I'm in a hurry.
I would like to have a copier/scaner option in the printer as well. But if the printers with those options are not compact then I'm thinking about getting a separate portable scanner(so that I can take it to the library where I mostly study/review) to scan my physiology illustration/notes into Evernote.
If you have any other suggestions, I'm open to hearing them.
sidenote: If the printer doesn't have a copy option, would scanning the document using the portable scanner and then printing the number of copies I need through the printer work efficiently? or would that take up too much time?
