I was wondering what is the FASTEST possible external harddrive connected to a MacBook Pro. I assume it would be a SATA connection through the ExpressCard slot. Is this true? What would be the speed compared to the internal HD? Would I be able to boot through this HD? Or in other words, would I be able to have my OSX Partition on the internal HD and the Bootcamp/XP partition on the external ?

Thanks for your help!

eSata would be the way to go, 3gb/sec so the speed is there, as for being able to dual boot with the external drive. It wouldn't be possible through bootcamp because bootcamp runs on the same drive that OSX runs on. So technically it couldn't work, unless you figured out how to dual boot your mac to dual boot two versions of Mac OSX and on the external one partion most of the drive for XP and have the startup disk on windows so everytime you boot the external it automatically boots XP.
