Are there keyboard shortcuts to fast forward or to rewind in Quick Time Player? Or failing that, to jump ahead or back x number of seconds? I haven't been able to find any such shortcuts, though I've seen them in other players.

See if you need any of these.

in addition to those above you can jump to a certain time in the movie by double clicking the timer to the left of the timeline. you can also change it to Frames by clicking on it and jump by frame number.

EDIT: hey gusious i edited my post to add the jump to hint but also to add in a pic ;)

Fast Forward in Quicktime did I miss something?

I'm sorry, I've tried to read this post carefully and it ends like there was an answer given, but I'm still not clear what the KEYBOARD shortcuts are for fast forward and reverse. I know I can click on the timeline etc, but I'm trying to do this from the keyboard only. Specifically, I would like to put the keystrokes for fast forward and rewind in my Griffin Powermate so that I can quickly scan through video while editing.

Thanks
