Greetings friends and colleagues.

While the announcement is just a few days away, do you think the new iPhones will have some sort of fast charging similar to what's found on most Android flagships? One thing I'm somewhat envious is how fast my S6 charges. I can go from 10% to about 75% in well under an hour. It would be great to see an iPhone with this in addition to any other battery saving optimizations that doesn't rely on using an iPad charger.

I charge my iPhone 6 with the iPad charger and it seems plenty fast to me although I've never timed it. Would I like it to be faster? Sure, why not!

Using the iPad charger might not be a god idea, although I hope that Apple have taken this into account in designing their protective circuits.

Only Apple knows. Asking these "Do you Think" questions is useless.

I'd like to see this, but something tells me that it's not going to happen.

Why would it be a bad idea? The 6 Plus supports a faster charge rate using the iPad charger.

According to the compatibility list on apples website the iPad charger works with all versions of the iPhone.

Have you ever tried using the iPad charger on the phone. It really speeds up the charge. I have a sneaking suspicion that Apple will include a 2a charger with the 6s and 6s+ phones.

I have wired my office and bedroom with USB wall outlets from Lutron. They have both a standard voltage as well as the iPad higher voltage. I noticed that my iPhone 5s charges much faster as as far as I know the higher voltage will not damage the phone - the protective logic is built into the phone.

Voltage is same, it's the amperage that's higher. Phone regulates the amps draw based on level of charge. When phone is empty it hungerly takes more amps, as it fills battery level amp draw goes down until at 100% it shuts on and off trickle charging.

The 6 and 6+ already charge relatively fast - and potentially much faster with an iPad or other similar 2-2.4a charger. The 'fast charge' systems that other companies use are largely designed to overcome the limitations of their micro-usb charging ports which are current limited in standard design. The lightning port has no such limit, so Apple is free to continue turning it up on future phones.

I charge my iPhone 6 through the 12w iPad charger wall cube .. In fact I charge all my usb charging devices thru that 12w iPad charger cube ..

iPad / 4s x2 / iPhone 6 / Bluetooth car speaker / Kindle x3 etc ..

The 12w Apple charger appears to be the fastest, even as compared to other 2.4a chargers. The 6+ will charge from ~5% to ~70% in 1hr using it. Hard to complain about that.

2a is the secret...even for car chargers. I find the phone to charge from 10-70% in like 30 mins max. 80-100% takes the longest, but not even that long.

Which is why I'm asking for opinions, not facts.
Ok here is an opinion. All this technology is reverse engineered from alien spacecraft parts recovered near Roswell in 1947. Absolutely no facts! But unlike this opinion, we will have all revealed this coming Wednesday!
