Faster searching in XP

Is there a way to speed up the search function in XP SP3? Seems like Windows is awful slow when it comes to searching. I typed in the exact name of a missing file from a project and now have been waiting 5 minutes for it to complete. :mad: Windows isn't very good at this is it.
