Hi,

Quick couple of questions. In Apple’s keynote they said USB C in the Pro models was faster… yet on Apple’s website it says 10Gbps… which is the same as the 15 Pro? So, how is it faster? I think they said it was linked to the new media engine?

Secondly, I know there is no quantifiable referent in nits etc in the new screens but there was a lot of rumours saying that the panel would be updated to Samsung’s newer/more efficient panel. Does anyone know if this is the case with the new 16 Pro’s?

Thanks

I think they meant it's faster than the USB speeds found on the regular model; not that it's faster than the A17 Pro. It'd be like saying the A18 has the slower USB 2 speeds, and the A18 Pro has the faster USB 3 speeds.

In that section of the keynote, they're listing things "that are only available on the pro models" (including ProMotion, Always-On, and ProRes video recording). They didn't compare the speeds to the A17 Pro, like they specifically did for everything else.

Yes I thought that. A bit deceptive from Apple there. When they summarise the features of a new product in like a tile format and put ‘faster USB’ or something, then you expect it to be I.e. faster than previously (which is 10 Gbps). Poor form from Apple there. Otherwise it’s like the. Saying ‘better speakers’ and then not changing them from the previous generation 15 Pro and then saying ‘oh we meant better than the none pro.’

Just hope the screens have the better/updated panels which I think are on the S24 ultra.

Yeah, I find that a bit deceptive too. Another example is when they say "new advanced display engine for Pro Motion and Always-On". It makes it sound like there's a brand new display engine, but I'm guessing they mean it's the new engine that hasn't made its way to the regular chip yet.

Btw, when they summarized the new features at the end in the tile format, it just says "USB-C With USB 3"...unless you seen something somewhere else.
