My understanding is that the throughput of the current Airport Extremes
is limited to about 300Mbps. I've seen this both using wireless (802.11n
5 GHz) and wired (LAN) connections to the latest model of the Extreme.

This is 60% of the nominal peak speed of my Comcast service, and
in fact I've clocked the Comcast service directly out of the modem using speedtest.net at speeds of 55 to 60 MBps.

Is Apple planning to introduce faster versions of the Extreme in the near future that are as fast or faster than 60 MBps?

Thanks, Bill

Of course no one outside relevant Apple sections know for sure, but I don't think increasing the WAN throughput is a high priority for Apple. The WAN throughput is high enough for the vast majority of Internet connections. It handles my 100Mbit/s connection gracefully, and most connections are way slower.

If your WAN throughput is around 300Mbit/s, that's way more than one realistically could hope for in a consumer level product today in my opinion.

Just curious, what kind of Comcast service do you have? Sounds awfully fast.
