ok, I'm scratching head a bit about proposed second machine.
having looked about, a decent dual G4 powermac+memory+screen (say a 20" cinema, also secondhand) is heading for s/h g5 imac/early c2d imac money...
so, if I'm gonna need extra drives, ( i probably am cos i can't afford a server too right now) what's going to win on disk access and how noticeable will the difference be?
G4+IDE internal ATA100
G5+SATA internal (SATA150?)
iMac with FW400 (most don't have FW800 I think?)
I'm thinking that firewire might actually be the quickest option, but it just sounds wrong that it can outperform internal disks so easily?
Other reasons for a PowerMac other than extra optical drive, expandable via cards and FW800 if you get right box?
