I do a lot in Excel for Mac. It appears not to be multi-threaded like the windows version. My base model Mac Mini appears not to be cutting it. So with that said, I'm looking around for something faster. What I am finding is this:
Mac Mini Base - 2.3ghz - turbo boost 2.9ghz
Mac Mini Mid - 2.5ghz - Turbo to 3.2ghz
Mac Mini Mid+ - 2.7ghz - Turbo to 3.4ghz
Mac Mini Server - 2.0ghz - Turbo to 2.9ghz
iMac 21" Base - 2.5ghz - Turbo to 3.3ghz
iMac 21" Top - 2.7ghz - Turbo to 3.7ghz
iMac 21" Top+ - 2.8ghz - Turbo to 3.8ghz
iMac 27" Base - 2.7ghz - Turbo to 3.7ghz
iMac 27" Top - 3.1ghz - turbo to 3.1ghz
iMac 27" Top+ - 3.4ghz - Turbo to 3.8ghz
It seems that my best options are either go with the Mid+ Mac Mini or the iMac 21" Top or 27" Base. Obviously I'm only looking directly at straight numbers and cache would play a part in the overall speed so does anyone have any single threaded benchmarks for these desktops?
Edit: Obviously the 21" and 27" Top+ models would be the fastest, but for $200 to only get an additional 100mhz faster just isn't worth it to me.
