What is the fastest video card that Mac OS 7.6.1 will work with. I have a Radeon 7000 PCI and I read somewhere that you can possibly get that running under OS 7, but I don't know if it's true or if anybody has actually done it. Aside from that, the fastest card that is out of the box supported. Would it be any of the VooDoo cards? Do any of the early Radeons fit the bill?

...those of you who know me should already know why asking "why" will get you nowhere...

If you have a PCI slot you might be able to pull off Radeon 9200 PCI. I think Sonnet also had another PCI video card that was supported under System 7.

I have a Radeon 9200, Radeon 7000, and IX Micro TwinTurbo PCI video card available for me to try...

Which was fastest? Does the radeon 7000 have a fan or was that the 7200? Thanks.

The Radeon 9200 was not recognized by System 7.6.1. The Radeon 7000 is, and thus becomes the fastest card. I posted this back in 2006. I ended up getting it to work and creating a custom package of ATI drivers for System 7. You can read more about that heree: http://main.system7today.com/articles/videocards.html

I have the original Mac radeon edition with the fan. It has 32M VRAM and if I recall correctly it has a wider memory bus than the Radeon 7000 64M.
