I'm looking for a remote desktop app to use for work. I have an 8 core intel xeon processor windows 7 desktop that runs various research applications which can be graphics intensive and I want to access it with a MacBook Air 13" and MacBook Retina 15" running OS X.

Essentially I want to run a remote display.

I've heard good things about splashtop. Can anyone make some recommendations?

Are the two computers going to be on the same LAN, or are you wanting to control them from home or somewhere else where you will go across the internet? If going across the internet, will you use a VPN?

If on the same LAN or using a VPN, I would try the microsoft remote desktop connection. Otherwise, I have used logmein and teamviewer with good results. Can't really say it's super fast for graphics applications, but my connections are typically from the US to Japan so I expect some latency.
