Fastest way to move some but not all IPhoto library

I want to move maybe 1000 our of 8000 photos to my new Mac. I want to keep them in the Events group they are in as I spent much time cleaning these up. What is the fastest/most efficient way to do this?

Export the event to a folder on your Desktop. Transfer to other computer using target disk mode, an external drive, or a flash drive. Drop the folder on iPhoto. It will create an event with the name of the folder. A catch however: You cannot revert edits to original on the computer you're transferring to, obviously.
