I just spent all morning shopping and I HATE IT!!! Nothing reinforces your abnormality like trying on clothes and for me - shoes. I am going to be in my sister's wedding on November 13th. I already have a dress, but she wants us all to wear silver shoes. I have seriously gone to 9 shoe stores today, including 2 specialty wide stores. My problem is that my feet swell so bad with fluid retention and they are fat and wide to begin with, that I can't cram my toes in to any style shoe. I buy men's shoes for regular wear in a sneaker or a hiking boot. But unless there is a specialty store where drag queens can by heels, I am at a loss! I ordered a pair of shoes online in a double wide and the toes didn't fit. If I cut off my pinky toe, everything would work, but I would still have the fat puff rolling over the top of the shoe. Just wanted to vent a little frustration. I found a pair of flats, ballet style shoes in silver but they cost me $75 and I just want to die for spending that much on a pair of shoes that I will probably only wear once. Anyone have puffy feet like me that knows of a good place to buy shoes?

How about buying some comfy shoes and colouring them afterwards? No-one will ever know (except me but I won't tell!).

Maybe you should talk to your sister about the importance and specifics of this silver shoe thing. If her preference for your shoe colour takes more priority than your comfort then I imagine it will be a real fun talk. :p Maybe you can strike a compromise and get yourself some silver flip-flops or some other such shoe that won't be a misery for you.

Not sure how a Mac forum can help but hey, we also service those in need of love, career, and life advice.

I have big feet but bigger in length, wide but not swollen like you speak of. I know a woman like that and it looks painful really. That being said, I would easily take iBlue's advice. It seems to me like bridezilla may compromise and if she doesn't then you may have to see if you can't just wear the flip flops on her day and let her bitch about it. Trust me, by the time it happens she won't give two craps about your shoes and it will give her something to be dramatic about over the next holiday.

Strappy ass shoes weren't made for swollen feet. I see people wear them and I die for them and I presume they feel as though less is more space for the fat when in fact it's dreadful.

I hope your sister sees the light. There are actually some flip flops that may work or perhaps she can foot (no pun intended) the bill or 50% for the shoes. It sounds like you'd never wear silver shoes again. I know I wouldn't and then again I'd wear flip flops and take the beating. Eventually she'll be married and have a husband to lash her tongue at!

This is a great idea. Silver spray paint. Think of it as a theatrical performance. The "audience" at a wedding is sitting many feet away from the "stage". No one will notice that your shoes have been spray painted unless they look closely (they wont).

I think you should buy those Crocs as mentioned earlier and then spray paint them in some metallic gloss silver.

Hey, as long as you'll never suffer from back + foot pain from wearing heels all night like some of us!

i know you will laugh at this.
but have you looked in the stores where strippers buy their shoes ?
they are usually built to look good while holding everything in and giving some support
I dont mean the 6 inch heels,
the simple heeled sandals
the straps are wider and come in metallic finishes
and they are snug not tight , so less likely to make the bloat effect
and usually cheaper than 'normal' shoes.

But, seriously, find a pair of dressy-ish shoes that fit, and spray paint them silver. Although if you're handy with adhesives, you could probably cover them in aluminum foil. :D

Dyeing shoes is actually a good idea
a good shoe place can make them metallic silver. then layer on more sparkle if needed for not too much $ (my local one charges $15 to dye my leather boots)

I was thinking more shoe dye than spray paint! :)
