So my dad bought a macbook pro 2.0ghz 2006/7 model from a car boot sale for £200 as it has been damaged (Dented etc) It was demonstrated to him as working before he bought it.
The first problem he encountered was the whole username/password issue. He just used it with the other guy's settings and couldn't install programs etc. I then found a quick fix for this in 07. I managed to reset the password/username but none of the applications like safari or even system preferences would open. They were just replaced by question marks. My dad got a tiger CD from the apple store but it wouldn't install saying that it needed a Power PC processor to install. My dad took the disc back and just kept using it like that until today when I got bored and decided to try and install leopard. I used my imac install dvd ( Yes I know it is assigned to my imac only but I decided to give it a try anyway). I managed to boot off the disc and erase the hard drive using the disc utility but the software would not install.
My question is : Would a store bought leopard dvd install ok on this laptop? Keep in mind it's model and the troubles We've had with it. Thanks for the replies.
