I have just read about the death of the legendary "Fats" Domino, one of those incredibly influential figures in the history of modern popular music - and this was an influence openly admitted (and admired) by luminaries such as Elvis, and the Beatles.
Boogie-woogie, ska, rock-n-roll, rhythm and blues - his musical thumb prints were everywhere and his larger than life, warm and cheerful character informed his musical choices, interpretations and vast output.
Some of his considerable catalogue are songs that are so well known that it seems that they have been around forever, songs that include the timeless classics "Blueberry Hill" and "Ain't That a Shame".
RIP.
