fault with clicker on trackpad and mouse

I have a 2.33ghz C2D 15" Macbook pro (not unibody) which seems to be slowly dying i'm pretty sure it needs a new logic board as the fans are always running at 6000rpm from the moment the machine comes on. Now the clicker stops working on trackpad and mouse between 20 mins and 1 hour of use. The only way round this is to do a hard reset with the power button the machine comes on again and the clicker works again. I fear this machine is on its way out as logic boards are an expensive repair. thanks for your thoughts
