Hi, I took my iPad Pro back to the Apple store 2 days after purchase due to backlight bleed, which I had originally purchased on a Visa Card. They replaced it on the spot, however this one now has several dead pixels, from looking at the receipt of the replacement it appears that they refunded my original purchase to a gift card and then used the gift card to re-purchase a new one, as the payment method states 'gift card', and never told me of any possible implications of doing this. I don't know if I can really be bothered going through the exchange process again, but would like to know if anyone on here knows that if I ask for a refund they will be able to refund back to my original payment method of a credit card, instead of the gift card the specialist used to complete the exchange?

Shouldn't be an issue if you have the original sales receipt. They normally email you a copy if you gave them your Apple ID at the time of purchase.
Yes, you can get a refund to your original credit card even after a gift card exchange. How do I know this? Because I did it a few times playing the screen lottery with the Air 2.
The only reason they use the gift card for exchange is so they don't put another purchase through on the credit card while you wait for a refund to show up which typically takes a few days.
