I guess this is what the "Apple Tax" pays for when you buy Apple products. I've had my AirPods for a little over 10 months. The right one would not charge right every once in a while. Happened maybe 4 or 5 times. Take AirPods out of case and right one would be dead. Put it back in case and it would charge. I figured the little contacts weren't making good contact.
Last Tuesday, right AirPod charged up to 100% and then started losing charge and showed it was connected to my iPhone while it was in the charging case. It would run the battery all the way down and after a lot of inserting and removing from the case, it would start to charge again and not be connected to my iPhone.
Called Apple, since the nearest Apple Store is 50 miles away, and under the standard warranty, no Apple Care, they overnighted me a new right AirPod. To do so they put a $75 hold on my credit card until they received the defective one. I shipped the bad one back and after they received it, the hold was removed from my card. Simple and convenient. The Apple Tax paid off for me here.
