I love this Macbook Pro but Would be great if the keyboards worked. My MacBook Pro which cost £2500 and is only 9 months old has a keyboard which has stopped working. Making it a useless piece of junk. Apple support not interested and told me I would need to wait until lockdown is over to get a repair. I can buy a new one and get next day delivery but they told me they could not arrange a collection for repair as none of their couriers were working which I know is a lie. I asked for a swap over and was told, not an option. I could be waiting 3 months for a repair. Will never buy Apple again. Needless to say my tweet to Tim Cook went unanswered. Just venting as I work from home and need it, I know circumstances are exceptional but thought Apple would have a bit of leeway knowing this a recognised problem. Using my partners Dell and it’s torture.

If they can't pick it up, you could use an external keyboard. Don't know what country you're in, but those are still easily available from places like Amazon, and not expensive.

My 2017 keyboards started misbehaving as well :(
I am so happy that I have a spare 2017 in case something like this happens! :)

Kinda upset though...

Again I think this is a unfortunate example of folks buying MacBooks and MacBook Pros without doing a little research beforehand. It's been common knowledge since around 2015 that the keyboards have design faults, that they suffer from reliability and noise issues. Thinner and lighter laptops lead to less room for deeper (more reliable) keys, not to mention a compromise on cooling efficiently - which leads to premature failure of components.
As an engineer I'm appalled at how marketing & sales and especially pressure to achieve production target dates seems more and more to result in sub-standard products. The customer has become the test-bench for so many products, which I'm sure would have Steve Jobs turning in his grave. The list of problems seems to be endless.
And yet another interesting report!
If I could be assured that a new MacBook or MacBook Pro today would give me years of reliable service and be engineered so that if problems did occur they'd be far easier and significantly less expensive to fix - I'd immediately become a customer again. But it just won't happen, which is why I am sticking to my mid 2012 MBPro (the golden age), which having been easily upgraded at home with RAM and an SSD, and running the latest OS keeps me a very happy bunny over this weekend - and Easter periods in the future. :)

I actually prefer the 2017 butterfly keyboard better.

This keyboard failure thing is not a big problem for me because I live close to Apple Store and use a Time Machine to copy everything to a backup (identical) computer when the keyboard breaks (almost never happens), but it is annoying during the shutdown time because Apple Store is closed. I will probably switch to the 16" when they fix the heating issues.
