I just received my 1GB stick and put it in slot 4, however on restart the system only shows 2GB! (When it should show 4), saying slots 2 and 3 are empty.

So I removed all the sticks and put this new one in slot 1... it doesn't boot up!

Faulty memory or do I need to do anything to get it to work?

It's a kingston MP1066/1G, purchased from ebuyer... but what I did noticed was that the seal had already been broken (!!) so possibly one someone else sent back!! Argh!

I reckon faulty for sure. Get on the blowhorn to that seller and give him a lip thrashing (not really) :p

You can't go wrong with crucial for the next time, though I think it may be a bit pricier.

It's a 2009 Quad Mac Pro.

Do they have to be matched pairs? (currently 3 1GB sticks in there)

Just a note to say I sent the ebuyer memory back and ordered another stick from Dabs, got it next day (as opposed to 10 days that ebuyer took!) and it only cost 60p more! And yes it was properly sealed and works!! :) :apple:
