Are faulty smart covers common? Just got one today but it just won't sit right at all. Hinge connects fine but the actual cover won't lie flat and lock the screen!

Drove 40 miles to my nearest Apple Store for that as well! Oh well. Better head back...Refund or a replacement - not sure as yet what to do!

Anyone seen this problem with one?

odd, looks bad to me.
sucks to hear about that.

call and complain, send a photo via email...maybe they will send you a new one?

I don't believe this. Can you take two, clear pictures? Not one odd picture from the side that only shows half the iPad.

I say fake, for now.

I'm afraid I have to agree. Not only is this half a picture, but the Smart Cover isn't aligned properly to begin with.

What's the motive here?

Sorry if im wrong but it looks like its on backwards...

If you look at the bottom of the ipad, it has the 30 pin connector and the smart cover is to the left of it. its supposed to be where the magnet part goes to clip on

Yeah, I call BS here. I think it's attached wrong. I don't see how a smart cover could even do that. Do you have the fuzzy side down? Is the hinge facing the body of the iPad correctly?

No guys it wasn't on wrong on backwards! I took it back today anyhow, and swapped it. Now it works as designed. Was clearly faulty, guy in Apple Store tried it too.
