I got my new iPad 3 screen last week. Compared to my iPad 2 it was a little warm/red in tone. I didnt think too much of it at the time. Reading the stuff being said on these forums I thought people were just being fussy. So I went back to the Apple store today to compare my iPad with the others on display. It turned out to be much redder in comparision. I asked one of the staff to take a look at my panel and he saw the difference immediately saying it was substantially warmer especially in a band at the top of display, so not even uniform. He said it was clearly a faulty panel.

So then he offers a straight swap, bought up another panel, we switched it on and we compared them side by side. The difference was very clear. The new panel looked noticably more 'cleaner' with no tint. Almost perfect. In fact the color reproduction looked as good as my iPad 2 so now Im much happier.

So my advice to anyone who suspects they have a wierd display, just take it down to the Apple store, compare it to the other panels and if you notice a big difference request a replacement. Once you have the replacement, ask that its opened in store, compare the panels together at full brightness and decide which one you want to take.

I apologised for being fussy but Apple themselves said these are expensive devices and they wanted us to be 100% happy.
