I'm not sure why you'd find you need a different keyboard for a different model. I have a keychron K3 (slim backlit). I love the feel and the size and its compatibility with Mac is excellent. My complaint would be that the slim style keychron keyboard like this on is barely usable when not plugged in with the backlight running. The battery only lasts about 2 days max. My old logitech mx mechanical mini (which also felt very nice and solid) was backlit and lasted weeks in comparison. Its problem was it wasn't switchable between machines and had an odd bug with MSFS 2020 which wasn't fixable in software - it's final problem was I dropped a full cup of coffee on it and it was never the same since! That's what prompted the switch to the Keychron. I'm actually thinking of changing to a keychron pro version with a wrist rest to get the battery life as i don't really see the point in a wireless keyboard which has a very limited utility as a wireless keyboard. BTWE the keychron is very nicely built. I am wondering about Nuphy as well. A bit like womens handbags and wallets I'm beginning to wonder if there's a keyboard for all seasons. I suspect not! Please recommend your favorite Keychron keyboard for Mac Studio!
You can get the K Pro line with blue switches. And you can also replace them with whatever you want. If you like basic Blues, you’ll love Kailh Box Jade switches. So I am actually looking for a big, heavy, loud, full 100% 108-key from Keychron, and the dilemma I am having is, they are phasing out the K10 (allegedly) in favor of the K10 Pro. The Pro is programmable, but besides that I don’t like the keys, the colors, or the fact that I can’t have blue switches (which are loud and clicky). So I’m at a dilemma if anyone can help. 😢
Well there’s just certain things about the K Pro that irk me, luckily I was able to find the normal K10 with blue switches. I am new to the whole buying mechanical keyboards that you can mod yourself and I’d rather not go over board on the price, but at the same time I want something that will last me at least two-three computers and from what I gather these can. The only significant positive I saw to the K10 Pro is that they are programmable, but I’m sure there is some tinkering that could be done with the K10 if I really wanted to to get it to do something similar. After that I don’t much like the design of the K10 Pro.You can get the K Pro line with blue switches. And you can also replace them with whatever you want. They definitely can accumulate cost. I’ve got a couple with over $350 invested in each.Had I opted for another keyboard or the K10 Pro, to make it something that I would really like, would end up costing me like $50 more and thats an amount of money for a keyboard I’m not comfortable spending.
Most Keychron KB all do, except for Touch-Id of course. Just take a look.I think I'm looking for Keychron keyboard that matches a standard Apple Keyboard's functionality and has both wired and bluetooth connection options.
The K Pro line and Q Pro line both have bluetooth. The Q and V series do not include bluetooth, though they're excellent keyboards if you don't mind a wired connection.I think I'm looking for Keychron keyboard that matches a standard Apple Keyboard's functionality and has both wired and bluetooth connection options. Suggestions?![]()
I have a K5 SE and used the BT for a while but now I have it wired. The problem I had with the BT is that it goes to sleep really quickly and takes too long to reconnect. I can only comment on this one model, but I would definitely not recommend it to someone who wants to use BT. Other than that, I love the thing. Does everything I want. (But isn't programmable as X-ray points out). I'm not a mechanical keyboard enthusiast - just a user who prefers it.I think I'm looking for Keychron keyboard that matches a standard Apple Keyboard's functionality and has both wired and bluetooth connection options. Keychron C2So I am actually looking for a big, heavy, loud, full 100% 108-key from Keychron, and the dilemma I am having is, they are phasing out the K10 (allegedly) in favor of the K10 Pro. Any thoughts on the C2 or K2?? I’m leaning towards a C2 for my new Mac Mini. I prefer a wired keyboard with numerical numbers as well. The K Pro line and Q Pro line both have bluetooth. Otherwise, they all function extremely well with macOS. They include all the macOS Function row shortcuts (Mission Control, LaunchPad, back/play/forward, etc), and the layout can be programmed without needed a driver to add other functionality. I use a Q5 Pro, so I've assigned the three keys above the numpad for screen shot, Siri and Emoji panel. My Q5 Pro has been customized with new keycaps and new switches and I find it literally perfect now. Feels and sounds great.
I personally prefer to keep my keyboard connected by USB regardless of wireless capability. It's a keyboard -- it doesn't move, so the cable doesn't really get in the way. Doesn't need charging. And if there's a backlight, you can go wild with it if you want without worrying about it draining the battery.
FYI, I do not recommend the standard (non-Pro) K-series. This is Keychron's old budget line and is missing modern features like QMK/VIA support for preprogramming keys, has a reputation for bad bluetooth reception, and not all models have hot-swappable switch sockets (so you can't remove & replace key switches -- even if you don't plan on doing so, it's really a super convenient feature if you ever want to do even the slightest customization).
One other thing. None of the Keychron bluetooth keyboards support battery level display on macOS (or Windows for that matter) like the Apple keyboards do, just in case that's a make-or-break feature for you. The keyboard's LEDs can show battery level for you on-demand, but there's no interface for accessing the battery level on-screen in macOS as far as I know.
I have a K5 SE and run it wired. The wireless is pretty annoying. It goes to sleep very quickly and loses connection. Takes too long (IMO) to reconnect. If I was buying another Keychron, wireless would be irrelevant.Any thoughts on the C2 or K2?? I’m leaning towards a C2 for my new Mac Mini. I prefer a wired keyboard with numerical numbers as well.
Don’t buy a non Pro K-series. They’re Keychron’s oldest models and are missing many modern features, especially QMK/VIA programmability.Any thoughts on the C2 or K2?? I’m leaning towards a C2 for my new Mac Mini. I prefer a wired keyboard with numerical numbers as well.
Keychron sells keyboards with MX style switches and low profile switches. Most MX style keycaps will fit on Keychron keyboards which use MX style switches.Dumb newbie question on Keychron/mechanical keyboards.
Is it possible to swap out keycaps from the likes of Aliexpress or Amazon to change up the colours?
Or does each manufacturer have keycaps that only work with their keyboards?
Yes, I’m familiar with the different style switches…it was more about the keycaps. Thanks.Keychain sells keyboards with MX style switches and low profile switches. Most MX style keycaps will fit on Keychron keyboards which use MX style switches.
