will final cut studio 2 run on my friends macbook?

he's looking to get the software as he does quite a bit of editing, but wanted to know if the lack of dedicated graphics processing really does stop him from being able to use it.

Hi, he will be able to install FC Studio on a MB - however, the integrated GPU offers relatievly poor performance on GPU-intensive process (e.g. all of Motion). That said even something like Motion is usable (although if your friend was intended to use it heavily, I would seriously suggest getting a different machine), and CPU intensive tasks (e.g. video editing in FCP) is very good.

It's from last year, so the MB is CD one but will gives a good indication of FCP on it. There's a lot of threads about this on MR, so do a search - particularly in the editing subforum, where a fair few people use FCS on a MB.
