I've just recently started using FCE and until now, I haven't had any problem with it.
However, lately I've been trying to import longer video into FCE, say a 30 minute piece and when I go to make the in and out points in the viewer, it begins to freeze. If the piece is only a few minutes, the problem isn't there. I'm guessing this may have to do with drive space. I backed a few things up today and moved them onto an external drive, giving me 33GB's free on my hard drive. I thought surely that would be enough but the problem remains.
Incidentally, when I import the same 30 minute video into iMovie, it captures it but nothing shows up in the window and it does not generate the usual thumbnails. I read somewhere where there use to be a 2GB limit of importing video into iMovie but that was taken out. I'm wondering if these problems are simply "growing pains" on my part, being new to FCE or is this definitely a problem in the programs?
