FCE 4 Help Importing

Hi there, I just got FCE 4 and trying to learn how to use it. When I am trying to import videos using the Log and Transfer function i cannot import anything, i have plugged my Canon ixus camera into my Mac but it wont display on there, and I cannot import the videos already on my harddrive (they are greyed out).

Please can anyone help!
