FCE Won't drag from bins to timeline

My Final Cut Express won't move anything from the bins to the timeline. If I double click video clips I can drag them from the browser, but can't do that with audio. I've tried re-converting and re-importing.

Is there another way to get the audio into the timeline? Or how can I free up the bin to drag and drop into the timeline? I've had loads of problems over the last few days and worried the bin and the timeline might be saved under two different files (not sure about this last bit) but everything is playing back on the timeline fine.

Time is a factor! Any clues appreciated, thanks.

I managed to just right click copy and paste it into the timeline. If everything is playing back properly, does that necessarily mean that it'll import how it looks? There's no chance of it missing things out if it all plays back okay from the timeline?
