It seems FCP does not like my new dash cam files.
Old cam also AVI was fine but new one not working.

When importing it leaves big green sections in lower part of the video.
Video plays ok in VLC.

Old dash cam video imported fine and was edited and exported as a mov file no issue.
Cannot do so with the new dash cam.

I'll have try converting to another format.

Looking online it seems I am not alone in this with avi files.

I tried to import an avi file, it was greyed out...remember that the avi is just a wrapper, a container, like coffee in a tin can, the actual coffee inside is unaffected by the container, you can change the container from tin to glass, this does nothing to the actual coffee inside...

AVI is Audio Video Interleaved...old basically obsolete format that needs to be re-wrapped in order to function with FCPX...Handbrake should so the trick...annoying, but there has to be a line drawn and avi really should have been deleted a long time ago, much like Flash...old and tired and really annoying....
