To update to FCP 7 from FCP 5 for free, you have to go to Software Update and let the machine do its work. Then you go to one of the following web sites, which offer FCP for free.

hello friend ... i have leopard 10.5.7 version .. i hav installed fcp 5.0.1 ... but i'm not able to connect internet in 10.5.7 so thats the problem for me ...so i came here to download fcp updates from 5.0.1 to latest version of fcp ...
Then try it without Software Update. You can download the 10.5.8 update and the FCP updates from www.apple.com/support/downloads if you want.
Btw, I'm quite thick in understanding. If you can't connect to the internet, how is it possible for us to "talk" to each other?
You need to buy the latest version. You cannot upgrade from Final Cut Pro 5.0.1 to FCP 7 for free.
People have put hard work and lots of time into this software, you are not entitled to that for free.
If you meant "Nothing, leave it...", then okay. Have a good hunt.
