FCP 5.1 Opening Issue

I have FCP 5.1, and the scratch disk was set to my hard drive, with I accidentally unplugged. I tried to open my project again, and FCP said to reset the scratch disk, which I did to the hard drive again. Now FCP will not open! It starts to open, and I click continue, but it just closes. What do I do? I'm working on a documentary to finish my M.A! Can anyone help?
