fcp export cuts off part of video

hi can someone comment as to the best way to resolve this issue?

i export a fcp project to quicktime movies using h.264 compression. when i open it in quicktime, i see that all is good and it plays well. however, when i burn it to dvd and play it on my tv... i see that part of the image is cut off!

is there a way to head this off?

might be something to do with TV safe area, especial if you using a old CRT TV, you need to allow around 10 for cut off,

It would be nice to know what sequence settings and what DVD authoring application with what settings you have used.

Btw, if you have FCP 6 or 7, then you most probably also have DVD Studio Pro, thus you can make DVDs without exporting to an H264 compressed video, which will result in image quality loss.

The FCP and DVDSP manuals tell you how to bring an FCP sequence into DVDSP to make a video DVD.

i think it's like the first person said, i went into FCP settings and turned on the safe area view.

my video was a bit out of the safe area. I will try to make them more in the safe area next time.

i only have the FCP 6 without dvd studio pro ;/

if your video is on a 4:3 ratio and you watch it on a wide screen tv the sides will be cut of. what ratio is your video in?
