FCP- Limit Effect not rendering real time?

I'm trying to use the limit effect (3 way color corrector) with the 4/8 way matte but I can't get it to render in real time. The only way I see the actual color correction is if I render the image.

Render settings
Unlimited
Dynamic- quality
Dynamic- frame rate

Captured footage in HDV 1080 24p. Footage was in HD on a Canon A1-XH.

Mac Pro
2.66 quad core
7300 GT
3 gigs ram
250 gb hard drive (70 used)
250 gb external glyph hard drive - connected via FW 800 cable

Not being able to render this in real time makes color correcting with the limit effect near useless!
